Church of the Ascension has an active Mother's Union group that we are extremely proud of and we welcome new members who wish to join our mission.
Mother's Union is a global movement, present in 84 countries across the World, with the aim to show their faith by helping the sustainable transformation of communities worldwide. They do this by helping to nurture strong relationships, at all levels, promotion peace and reconciliation locally, nationally and globally.
Here at Church of the Ascension we recently celebrated 60 years of Mothers Union. In 1965 the founding members were Mrs Eileen Bishop (wife of the then curate Father Malcolm Bishop) with Mrs Irene Wells and Mrs Ellen Baker. Fast Forward to 2025 and sixty years of loyal service was celebrated with a Thanksgiving Service kindly led by Father Adam.
We were pleased to welcome Jill Crofton (Diocesan Leader) Mrs Liz Williams (Deanery Leader) with us along with fellow members of the Mother’s Union from St Mary’s and St Mark’s (Pensnett). After the service we had tea, coffee and biscuits where Father Adam gave a very interesting and informative talk about the history of some of the stoles he wears. It was a very enjoyable afternoon for all.
If you would like to join us, we meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Church Hall and all are welcome - ladies and gentlemen. Please reach out to a member of the team who can direct you to our branch leader.
